Matt called me up and asked if i'd like to ride in an autocycle run with him. He had a couple of bikes that were just about elidgeable and it would be "fun". It started off ok, though within a couple of miles I'd nearly run over a dog and rear ended Matt's bike due to the awful brakes on the Bantam. Apart from the constant struggle my brain had with the upside down and back to front gears things seemed to be going alright - then it started to rain :( and rain and rain and rain! Apart from the general misery and torment I had the luck to ride through a 2 foot deep puddle that flooded the magneto. Later the bike just starts to cut out and Dan had to tow me using his reflective safety band and his even more puny James - a fairly worrying procedure that left me aching and certain that I would never do that on a heavier bike for fear of death. We eventually made the pub for lunch after 1 lap (we were supposed to do 3) and were told that sausage, egg and chips was not possible - only sausage and chips or egg and chips... service with a smile. Richard then kindly let me try out his Teagle, which I discovered had loose front wheel bearings while doing about 20mph on a slimy corner. Onwards to home when the Bianchi kept cutting out mysteriously - out of juice! At this point it was getting dark, we were miles form home on bikes with no lights. A race against the clock ensued and I almost rammed Matt once more and another time enjoyed a 30 metre skid as I desparately tried lose some speed before a junction :( However, we all made it in 1 piece, if only just and after dark, so I can see no reason why not to call it a "FUN" day out!
